This is Gokyo Risshun Junmai Ginjo Nama Genshu release. It is a special release sake that is released on February 4th of each year on Risshun. Risshun is considered the beginning of Spring in the Chinese tradtional calendar. This sake is pressed, bottled, blessed by a shinto priest, and picked up by the sake shops to sell starting at midnight on February 4th.
This week I am drinking the 2023 release and the 2024 release. I opened both to compare them to see how much of a difference a year of aging would make.
This sake does a fruity nose and fruity taste. The nose on the 2023 is stronger than the 2024. The 2024 does have more of a bite, but it has not had time to age.
